A Biochemist's Life.

It all starts here!

You just finished High School and you chose to apply to the Pure and Applied Science program to become a biochemist but you don't know in which CEGEP you should do your study. Your choice is also based on the soccer program of the CEGEP and two programs seem interesting to you. You don't know if you want to go to Montmorency College where all of your friends will go and that is near your house or Ahuntsic College where you can play for a very strong soccer team, but that isn't near your house.

Choice 1 : Go to Montmorency College.

Choice 2 : Go to Ahuntsic College.

The first choice

Go to Montmorency College.

You finally chose to go to Montmorency College and even if your soccer season isn't the best in terms of ranking, but there is an excellent chemistry in the team and you often play, so you're enjoying it. Your grades are very good because with your time management, you're able to pull of straight A's, so two universities are trying to recruit you in their team, the University of Montreal and UQAM. Both universities have a good biochemistry program, and they are the two best soccer team in the university league, so you don't know where you want to go.

Choice 1 : Go to the University of Montreal.

Choice 2 : Go to UQAM.

Montmorency College

Go to Ahuntsic College.

You finally chose to go to Ahuntsic College, but now you have to choose if you go live in a residence near the CEGEP to be able to go more easily to your soccer practices at 7 a.m. or you stay at your house with your parents and do the ride with the metro every day.

Choice 1 : Go to a residence.

Choice 2 : Stay at your home.

Ahuntsic College

Go to a residence.

It appears that you aren't ready to live alone in a residence, you have difficulties cooking a proper dish and to make your laundry. It was so a real mess in your apartment that the owner of the building kicked you out and complained to the CEGEP your bad behaviour. So, your soccer coach know what happened and decide to kick you out of the team because you messed up with the Ahuntsic College name.

Choice 1 : Try again!

Dirty apartment

Stay at your home.

All this travelling is bad for you, you have difficulties concentrating in your soccer practice and in your courses. Though, you can quit the soccer team to concentrate at your study or you continue this routine with the thought that you will get through eventually.

Choice 1 : Quit the soccer team.

Choice 2 : Continue with the thought you will get through.

Tired

Quit the soccer team.

Your grades are going better because you have more time to give, so you can study thoughtfully. With your bad start, there is only UQAM that accept you into the Biochemistry Bachelor's degree. After you finished your study, you're engaged by an agricultural company, but after you secretly hear a conversation between the owner of the company and a member of the government, you know that there is corruption ingrained in the company. What should you do?

Choice 1 : Keep in silence what you just heard.

Choice 2 : Report to the police what you just heard.

Corruption

Continue with the thought you will get through.

That wasn't a good decision! You're so tired that you have difficulty with your time management, so you put aside some works or give back cursory homework that are deteriorating your grades to a point you give up your study and find a dead-end job until you find the courage to go to school again.

Choice 1 : Try again!

Dead-end job

Keep in silence what you just heard.

Even if you kept silent about it, the police finally discovered all the corruption. So, after the lawsuit, they decided to shut down the company and let your coworkers and you without a job. You will have to go again in the difficult process of finding a new job.

Choice 1 : Try again!

unemployment

Report to the police what you just heard.

You decide to go to the police's office and denounce the owner of the company you work in because he was giving bribes to the government to get some of their assets. With all these prove, they were able to arrest the thieves, but you ask that the company don't shut down, so the employees won't lose their job. The company found a new boss and you continued to work like you did before.

Choice 1 : Try again!

Biochemist

Go to the University of Montreal.

You decided to go to the University of Montreal to do your Biochemistry Bachelor's degree and to play for the Carabins because this was your dream when you were younger. For your course, you have to do an internship to a company of your choice to experience the life of a biochemist, but you're hesitating between a company that is studying animal's gene and heredity or a pharmaceutic company that is studying the composure of medicine. Which one should you choose?

Choice 1 : Do the internship in the company with animal.

Choice 2 : Do the internship in the pharmaceutic company.

University of Montreal

Go to UQAM.

You decided to go to UQAM with the hope of playing on the soccer team but finally you aren't recruited in it because there is another goalkeeper that tried for the team and the coaches preferred her to you. That isn't encouraging for your study and you're not as enthusiasm as before for the biochemistry program, so you decide to change program even if you don't know which one.

Choice 1 : Try again!

UQAM

You do the internship at the pharmaceutic company.

You choose to do your internship in the pharmaceutic company, and they decided to give you an on-the-job-training, but you notice that your trainee is looking at you very strangely and that he's flirting with you. It's bothering you that he use his position of superiority to do this, but you're afraid that if you denounce him, the manager won't trust you.

Choice 1 : You tell it to the manager.

Choice 2 : You do nothing.

Pharmaceutic

You do the internship at the company with animal.

You choose to do your internship in the company that studies animal because you were always passionate about animals and to help know more about them seem pretty nice to do. They put you with a trainee to do an on-the-job-training so you could learn the ropes about this job. Your trainee is teaching you how to work in a laboratory that contains a lot of chemical products like acids and bases, how to study the ADN of an animal and other ins-and-outs for this job. You find the experience very interesting and you decide that this job is for you and that you would apply for it after your study. You finally did your dream job in a very good company, you're happy.

Choice 1 : Try again!

Biochemist

You tell it to the manager.

Even if you're afraid of his reaction, you decide to tell to the manager about the sexual harassment. Your manager was shock when he hears the story and says that he will call the police and dismiss him of his function for misconduct to an intern. You don't finish your internship because you're traumatize by this event, so you look for another field of study.

Choice 1 : Try again!

Police car

You do nothing.

You didn't tell the manager what is happening, so your perpetrator decided to take action in the laboratory when you were alone. You try to escape from him, but you hit a container full of chemical product so you burn yourself. You are carried to the hospital where you receive many treatments, so you won't be able to work for a long time.

Choice 1 : Try again!

Hospital

About me and this blog

Welcome to my blog! My name is Évelyne Martineau and I'm 18 years old. I have been studying Pure and Applied Science for 3 semesters at Montmorency College. Pure and Applied Science is a Pre-university programs that is focused on science like chemistry, biology, and physics. We also are learning advanced mathematics to teach us the basics for when we do specific calculation in other subjects. So, Pure and Applied Science is really similar to Health Science, but it's more for students that maybe wants to do a job that uses physics a lot. My blog is a collection of articles that is about science and particularly biochemistry because this is in what I want to study in university. So, this blog is for the people that, like me, yearn to do biochemistry or another job in science. This blog can also be to people that are passionate for these types of subject and I promise that this blog will meet your expectations!
